Domestic storage water heaters keep hot water ready for one or two bathrooms, a kitchen or a pantry. They run on a normal single-phase supply and can be mounted horizontally above a ceiling or vertically on a wall.
Commercial storage water heaters supply hotels, hospitals, restaurants, factories and hostels. Larger tanks are made to suit the site, and they can also work as storage tanks for a commercial heat pump. See commercial storage water heaters.
An electric storage heater is the simplest, lowest-cost way to store hot water. If your household uses a lot of hot water, a heat pump heats the same tank for about a quarter of the electricity.
